Common Questions

How do I upload files?

Simply drag and drop your files into the upload area or click to select files from your computer. You can upload multiple files at once, and you'll see a progress indicator for each upload.

What file types are supported?

We support all common file types including documents, images, videos, and audio files. The maximum file size varies by plan: Free (250MB per file), Pro (2GB per file), and Business (5GB per file).

How do I share files?

After uploading, click the share button next to any file to generate a link that you can send to others. You can also set permissions (view-only or edit), password protection, and expiration dates for shared links.

Troubleshooting

Upload Failures

If your uploads are failing, check your internet connection, ensure the file isn't too large for your plan, and try refreshing the page. For persistent issues, try using a different browser or clearing your cache.

Missing Files

If you can't find a file, use the search function at the top of your dashboard. Check if the file might be in the trash bin or if it was shared with you rather than owned by you.

Account Access Issues

If you're having trouble logging in, try resetting your password. If you use Google Sign-In, ensure you're using the correct Google account. For persistent issues, contact our support team.

Security Tips

  • Use a strong, unique password for your FireDrop account
  • Enable two-factor authentication for additional security
  • Regularly review your account activity for any suspicious actions
  • Use password protection when sharing sensitive files
  • Set expiration dates for shared links that no longer need to be accessible
  • Log out when using FireDrop on shared or public computers

Advanced Features

Folder Organization

Create folders and subfolders to organize your files. You can drag and drop files between folders and set different sharing permissions for each folder.

File Versioning

Pro and Business plans include file versioning, allowing you to access and restore previous versions of your files. Click on a file's "History" button to see all versions.

Automation Rules

Business plan users can create automation rules to organize files, set expiration dates, or trigger notifications based on specific conditions like file type or size.
